Three things.

1) I tried cycling to uni in a skirt today. I was wearing a half-way-down-the-calf green skirt that some of you may know. It has a lot of material in it. Cycling in it was mostly a bad idea, with the skirt getting caught in between the back wheel and brake pads twice until I discovered that if I gathered up the material on both sides, then ... and I'm a little ashamed to admit this ... tucked it into my undies, then I could both a) avoid catching the material in the back wheel and b) make it further than halfway down the road. Not looking forward to cycling home where I have to go up a hill that I usually half-stand-up on the bike in order to get up.

2) More people need to bid on my ebay auction. I'm selling my old laptop :D

3) I'm thinking of moving this journal to blogspot. I'm not very impressed with the latest LJ changes (no more free accounts? wtf?) and blogspot gives me pretty much the same service (modifying of HTML templates, etc. that I'm *paying for here*) for free. Though I'm not sure if there are ads on blogspot, I have an ad-blocker, haha. The only thing I don't like about blogspot is the comments page, but I'm not sure if it's a deal-breaker. To compare, visit http://liedra.blogspot.com

I think you should ride side-saddle.

Your blogspot needs more octopi.

I could do that! I just haven't been bothered yet because I'm trying to work out if it's worth it.

Another bad thing about blogspot is that it Spoonerises to "spogblot".

I guess "jivelournal" has a much ... funkier sound.

Ooh, congratulations on the new MacBook!

I saw someone dealing with the exposed underwear problem by placing their bag on a rack directly behind the seat. As long as you didn't stand up too high, this would be okay. Have you considered painting your arse green to match the skirt?

Thanks for the suggestions! It's not so much the underwear exposing problem that plagues me, it's that when I stand up on my bike the skirt has the likelihood to move out from under my bum and drag down the back of the seat and get caught in the wheel.

See this is all so complicated!!

I get around this problem by only wearing my long flowing skirts in the comfort of my own home.

POIDH

... actually on second thought...

And I only tuck my skirt into my undies in my car.

Is that so that it doesn't get caught in the wheel?

Perhaps by applying bulldog clips to appropriate points between your legs (wait, this sentence is starting to sound bad, but I'm honestly not going in that direction with it, so keep reading, trust me on this one) you could effectively and temporarily convert your skirt into shorts for the duration of your bike ride.

Attention new users of the internet, if you want free access to websites, you may be required to view ads, unless you use software that automatically blocks ads in which case AS YOU WERE, GENTLEMEN?

I see a lot of people going batshit insane over the human rights violations contained in above proposal, but uh, I dunno, if you bought a TV that could access ad-free ABC* as well as ad-containing channels 7, 9 and 10 and then your aerial lost the ability to access channel 2, would you REALLY smash your TV in a 'civil right to ad-free' TV protest and then take up an alternative recreation (such as going to church)? And then would you force your friends to effectively smash THEIR TV's because they're only going to be able to catch up with you in church now, so why bother owning a TV anyway?

If your answer to any of the above questions was "I enjoy TV more than church", then not only are you awesome, but you may be spending your free time enjoying awesome stuff instead of worrying about things that aren't awesome.

For these reasons, and these reasons alone, I recommend you stay with LJ.

P.S. What's blogsport?
* no snarky comments about "ad-free" ABC, please, we're British

n/k you manage to, as always, distill the issue into themes i can actually relate to! I *do* enjoy TV more than church! But if I had friends who only watched the ad-free ABC and then I found out that the ABC had decided to sneakily stop offering ad-free service I'd be a little principle-istically annoyed for them! Because I like to get worked up about injustices! or something. It's more the fact that they didn't disclose it right up with their big list of changes... I don't like it when people hide info from me deliberately like that, you lose a lot of trust for them.

Then again, though, it's also a question of laziness, I couldn't be arsed moving at the moment. That said, if they ever start fucking with things in a negative way that affects me, I'm outta here!

PS *sniffle* n/k thinks I'm awesome :D

1) I sometimes think about cycling. But I don't have a bike or knowledge of how to ride one (very well, anyway) and you know, Sydney streets aren't the best?

2) Oh man! I would totally have bid on that if I'd seen it earlier.

3) Selfishly I would like you to stay here because LJ is heaps easier to track! I know I should, like, just set up some RSS feeds or something but I'm a bit of a technophobe.

4) Every one of these comments has been All About Me! Sorry!

5) In conclusion, re all of the above: OH WELL.

1) I know! I haven't really cycled much except here. It's nice here. You should move here.

2) Hehe, it's okay! I feel a bit awkward when friends buy my second hand electronic things because if they suddenly explode even if it wasn't my fault I'd still feel pretty awful that you'd paid for it, etc. heh.

3) It's okay you're allowed to be selfish! I've decided instead to hang about til they do something that affects me. Like, I dunno, turning off things I like, like one-legged midget furry porn communities* or something.

4) It's okay! I like you! Don't tell our Facebook community that though!

5) INDEED :D

* See Rule 34.
